One-day London conference’s high-level speakers
Hospital Innovations 2018, a one-day conference and event themed ‘Transform the healthcare environment through Innovation’, with IHEEM as event partner, opens its doors on 6 June at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health at University College London. Organisers, Step Exhibitions, say conference tickets are limited, but in the run-up to the event, those keen to book

sustainability practices in the NHS’, and ‘Technology enhancing the patient experience’.
Among the speakers will be Fiona Daly, recently appointed as the National Sustainability lead for NHS Improvement, who will present on ‘the National Programme for Sustainability’. Another presentation will see Jason Dawson, director of Capital, Estates & Facilities at The Christie NHS Trust, discuss the design and construction of the UK’s first NHS high energy proton beam therapy unit, set for completion later this year at the famous Manchester cancer hospital, The Christie. The afternoon sessions will include a look, by Mark Bristow, lead project manager for the £14.7 m Hospital Energy Project at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and the Trust’s head of Operational Estates and Facilities, Claire Hennessy, (with input from CEF director, Stephen Lowndes) at the two-year upgrade of the John Radcliffe and Churchill Hospitals’ heating and energy infrastructure. This was delivered by Vital Energi, with the Carbon and Energy Fund providing contractual advice to the Trust team.
The closing drinks reception will see the presentation of the Lord Carter Innovation Award for 2018 to the NHS Trust or organisation that best demonstrates one or more of the following: n Use of innovation and/or innovative practices in delivering substantial savings, efficiencies, and carbon reductions to the Trust.
n Delivering operational efficiencies and savings through the introduction of new and innovative engineering technologies.
n Evidence of transformation of staff practices through the introduction of new technology or innovative working practices.
