IHEEM membership benefit: a sponsored free place on HIS water and wastewater course The Institute is highlighting a valuable professional development opportunity available to its members, with applications now open for a fully sponsored place on the Water and Wastewater Safety in Healthcare Course. The course will be delivered by the Healthcare Infection Society (HIS) in October 2026. Funded by Harper Water Management Group, this initiative offers two sponsored places in total: one allocated to an HIS member, and one reserved exclusively for an IHEEM member. The course is reputable across the sector for its practical focus and direct relevance to those with responsibility for water and wastewater systems in healthcare environments. Participants will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of current risks, regulatory requirements, and best practice, while also benefiting from peer discussion and the sharing of real-world experience. The learning outcomes support improved compliance and informed decision-making aligned with contemporary guidance and standards. Applications are open until 8 May 2026 and will be reviewed through a straightforward, anonymised selection process to ensure fairness and transparency. Free EBB webinar from IHEEM and Guardian Electrical Compliance IHEEM, in partnership with Guardian Electrical Compliance, will host a complimentary one-hour webinar focused on BS 7671 18th Edition Amendment 4 Update on Thursday 14 May 2026 from 12:30–13:30, online. Open to both members and non-members, the session is particularly relevant to professionals working within healthcare environments, and will provide practical insight into the implications of the latest regulatory changes in operational settings. The programme will include an overview of Equipotential Bonding Busbar (EBB) requirements, a review of relevant Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs) and their scope, and clarification of Group 1 and Group 2 medical location definitions. It will also address medical IT circuits, supporting attendees in understanding their application and associated compliance considerations. The webinar will be delivered by Matt Gilmore, technical director and secretary of the East Midlands Branch, alongside Dave Dobson, technical business development manager from Guardian Electrical.
