AUTHORISING ENGINEERS CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION PREVIEW
This July, IHEEM Authorising Engineers and members of the wider healthcare engineering and estates sector will gather for the annual Authorising Engineers Conference and Exhibition at Epsom Downs Racecourse, sponsored by Eta Projects.

ollowing the highly successful 2025 event with speakers presenting around the theme of ‘Leading the Standard’, this year’s conference is set to deliver another programme of industry leaders and innovators speaking on topics relating to ‘Implementing the Standard’. Building on last year’s outcomes, there will be a key focus during the event on the implementation of robust governance arrangements, with clear evidence and recording of competency at individual and contractor levels to support compliance, assurance, and patient safety across the NHS. Sessions will also be delivered covering the online job competencies logbook for APs and CPs.

The session is particularly aimed at the interests of Authorising Engineers, Authorised and Competent Persons, NHS Tradespeople, apprentices, compliance officers, and those responsible for reporting on the governance of estates facilities and functions. Chairs from the Institute Technical and
Advisory Platforms will give updates to attendees on the latest activity from their respective forums, as well as plans for the coming year. The roster of platforms has expanded once again in the past twelve months, with Institute members now leading focused groups specialising in medical engineering, health and safety, and lifts.
With the recent announcement of the partnership agreement for the Institute to manage the Authorising Engineers register on behalf of NHS England, this year’s event provides a not-to-be-missed opportunity to understand more about the collaboration and implications for AEs.
