FAKUMA 2018 | SHOW PREVIEW

include: co-operation within the value and recycling chain; the securing of recyclate quality and material flows for increasing acceptance and usage of recyclates by processors, brands and end custom- ers; digitalisation/Industry 4.0 as a further enabler and supporter of the circular economy; increasing challenges regarding sustainability and circular economy models on global markets, such as China. The tour will include presentations by Krauss- Maffei, Arburg, Motan and Sumitomo (SHI) Demag.

Weima is launching the WLK 1000 plastic shredder at Fakuma 2018. The company has developed the single-shaft universal shredder to deal with high throughput and have flexibility in daily use. It is suitable for start-up lumps, production waste, containers, fibres and foils as well as large-volume plastic parts made of PE, PP, PVC, PU or PE. The WLK 1000 shredder, which has a 55 kW drive,

can increase energy efficiency per tonne of material, says Weima. The speed of the rotor is adjustable. Used in combination with granulators or extruders, the controllable rotor of the shredder means the stop-and-go automatic downstream processing equipment can be used efficiently and gently. The improved V-rotor has a diameter of 370

mm, and is configured with three rows of 78 cutting knives. The gap adjustment on the V-rotor enables first-class shredding results, says Weima. A hydraulically swivelling sieve simplifies accessibility and makes servicing and maintenance easier. The innovative shape of the log-spacer funnel makes it possible to shred very large parts without creating material bridges. Another highlight of the WLK 1000 is the segmented floor guide. The slider, which guides the material to the rotating rotor, is guided much more precisely. www.weima.com

Lindner Recyclingtech is showing a new single-shaft shredder from the Micromat BW series at Fakuma. It is designed to directly shred plastic film waste delivered in pressed form as bales without any preparatory work. The specially configured

cutting units with 116 mm square cutters ensure output with a pre-defined size. This makes auto- matic sorting according to the type of plastic much easier, the company says. The 132 kW motor on the shredder delivers the

torque needed to run the cutting system with the corresponding gearbox at speeds of 80 rpm and allow for throughputs of up to 15 t/h. The internal pusher, with a 7.5 kW hydraulic system and load-dependent speed control, allows for in- creased feeding volumes. www.l-rt.com

Ettlinger, which became part of Maag Group last year, will focus particularly on its ECO melt filter systems, which were originally developed for compounding and filtering gels and agglomerates, among other things, but have become popular in PET recycling for removing aluminium, paper, silicone or PVC from bottle regrind. Ettlinger says its ECO melt filters are now available with a 60µm screen size to meet the needs of PET recyclers. Ettlinger says: “The new,

extra-fine 60 µm screen size, which will be released to coincide with Fakuma, is even

better adapted to the excep- tionally high quality require- ments of bottle-to-bottle recycling – as the new industry benchmark for laser screening.

It is also a financially attractive option when it comes to filtering the small fines that are created in significant
