CHINAPLAS 2018 | SHOW PREVIEW

The Chinaplas show has expanded and moved to a new venue in Shanghai to provide more exhibition space. We take a look at what some recycling technology exhibitors will be showing

Chinaplas 2018 makes room for new exhibitors

Chinaplas 2018 takes place on April 24-27 in a brand new Shanghai venue – the National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC) in Hongqiao. The annual exhibition, which rotates between the cities of Shanghai and Guangzhou, has faced the problem of space shortage in Shanghai since 2012 due to the large growth in demand from exhibitors. The new venue will host more than 4,000 exhibitors and an expected 180,000 visitors. Exhibition space is expected to exceed 320,000 sq m, an increase of around 30% on the last Shanghai-held Chinaplas. The move to the NECC has allowed rationalisa-

tion of technology-themed halls: extrusion technology will be in the eastern part of the NECC, injection moulding in the west, and blow moulding in the south. All European pavilions will be gathered in Hall 2H. Even with the NECC’s larger capacity, oversub- scription for stands at Chinaplas 2018 has led the organiser Adsale to launch a “Young Tech Hall” which will gather together 350 new exhibitors from diverse fields. It says the Young Tech Hall helps visitors locate exhibitors and products by further segmentation and also brings to Chinaplas new

companies and advanced technologies. There will be a series of conferences and events at Chinaplas. It will run its third Industry 4.0 conference, with support from German engineering federation VDMA. Three sessions – covering automotive, electrical and electronics, and packaging – will include speakers from companies such as Erema, KraussMaffei and RWTH Aachen University.

Starlinger is making the most of its presence in the China market by holding an open house event for customers at its Taicang facility during Chinaplas. The Austrian producer of machinery for woven sack making and plastics recycling will be showing machinery from both business areas at its facility near Shanghai for the duration of the exhibition from April 24th

to 27th .

“We look forward to presenting our machinery to a wide audience,” said Klaus Mayerhofer, Regional Sales Director at Starlinger. “Having our own factory in China is definitely an advantage in providing support to our customers.” Starlinger will show PET technology in the field of recycling. The company said it had “recognised the
