It developed Vydyne AVS, a new engineered
material effective at dampening high-frequency vibrations at the motor, which translates into an 80% reduction in cabin sound pressure. The material is part of the company’s Vydyne Therma- plus family, a new technology platform of high- temperature high-ductile PA66 grades for fasten- ers, which are designed as a smarter replacement for PA46, the company says. Ascend offers several products to serve custom- ers focused on e-mobility, electrification, connectiv- ity, renewable energy, and packaging, through its expanded portfolio. These include its Starflam flame-retardant PAs, which encompass a full portfolio of UL yellow card-certified FR materials designed to meet a variety of performance requirements, and HiDura, a growing portfolio of long-chain PAs for connec- tors, as well as for consumer goods. Copolymer grades are used to produce more durable packaging films. According to Domo Chemicals, consumer aware- ness and legislation are pushing manufacturers and processors in automotive to reduce the environmental footprint of their products. Automotive OEMs and Tier 1 companies are increasingly looking to source eco-friendly plastics for use especially in their sustainable product designs for electric vehicles. However, “until recently, the performance, quality and availability of recycled engineering plastics has not been up to standard to meet the challenges of demanding high-volume automotive applications,” the company says. emissions, up to 70% less water and up to
60% less energy consumption. Domo says Technyl 4earth has been rigorously tested at the OEM and tier level and is fully approved for use in all automotive application areas. The latest development is
Technyl A 218 V30 34NG, a unique, glycol-resistant solution for cooling applica- tions that provides similar performance to the virgin, fossil-based alternative. It can be moulded under similar
processing conditions and is also laser makable while contribut-
ing to a substantial reduction in CO2 emissions during production.
Domo also created a range of heat-resistant and
flame-retardant grades specially designed to meet the demanding conditions of UTH automotive applications, covering a wide range of tempera- tures. Examples include a vacuum tank for Volvo, fuel filter housings for PSA, as well as engine covers, air box housings and air intake manifolds for several OEMs, the company says. There are also applications for door brackets, fastener systems, cable ties, plugs, connectors, and electric housings.
