other critical parameter in electric vehicles is the intended use of plastic parts. If a cooling system is in contact with a voltage system, the plastic grade used in the cooling system is expected to be copper-free. Tecomid NA40 GR30 NL HY QH (PA6.6, 30% glass fibre reinforced, hydrolysis stabilised, black) is formulated for use in such cooling systems thanks to its hydrolysis resistance and copper-free stabilisation. Formulating more sustainable products for

Eurotec says that when considering mechanical and thermal properties in UTH applications, it is highly important to choose grades that are suited to long-term strength tests for such functional compo- nents. PA66 30% fibreglass reinforced products are actively used in many under-hood applications, such as radiator end tanks, cooling pipes, oil filters, manifold parts, fuel systems etc. PA66 30% fibre- glass reinforced grades used in such applications are expected to have a high level of heat and coolant resistance required by the part. For this reason, any plastic grades used in such components should satisfy the mechanical and physical require- ments stipulated by OEM specifications due to long-term aging tests since they are expected to have ethylene and glycol and oil resistance at temperatures such as 120-140°C and/or heat resistance at higher temperatures such as 150- 170°C. Eurotec offers its customers the products specially formulated for applications of motor components exposed to high heat and coolant resistance throughout their service life. Tecomid NA40 GR30 NL HT A (PA6.6, 30% glass fibre reinforced, high heat stabilised, hydrolysis stabilised, natural, automotive grade) is formulated in accord- ance with the requirements of OEM specifications thanks to its high heat and hydrolysis resistance. While high thermal resistance is crucial to conventional internal combustion vehicles, the temperature difference in the battery pack should be kept to a minimum while driving electric vehicles particularly for battery cooling systems. An electric engine drives its power from control units powered by the battery. Maintaining the battery temperature within the defined minimum-maxi- mum operating temperature range is one of the most critical points regarding the battery life. Thus, the highly efficient operation of an appropriate cooling system is also vital to electric vehicles. The

numerous different applications accordingly, Eurotec says it offers effective solutions such as Tecomid NA43 GR30 BK005 HT A (PA6.6, 30% glass fibre reinforced, high heat stabilised, hydroly- sis stabilised, natural, automotive grade) with the content of recycled PA66, formulated for cooling systems. This meets OEM specifications thanks to its tensile strength and impact strength rating demonstrated by ethylene glycol resistance tests at 135°C. Tecomid NA40 GR30 NL KZ 07 (PA6.6/ PA6.10, 30% glass fibre reinforced, hydrolysis resistant, heat stabilised, natural) has salt resistance, along with hydrolysis resistance, thanks to its PA6.10 bio content and correct stabilisation content and is ready for use in cooling systems and quick connector applications. Eurotec has also formulated high-performance

PA6 and PA6.6 alternatives containing 50% fiberglass reinforcement for motor components that require high strength as well as high heat resistance required by components such as gearshifts or chassis parts. Tecomid NA40 GR50 NL HT A (PA6.6, 50% glass fibre reinforced, high heat stabilised, natural, automotive grade) and Tecomid NB40 GR50 NL HT A (PA6, 50% glass fibre rein- forced, high heat stabilised, natural, automotive grade) are ready for use in applications that require high mechanical strength, long-term creep and fatigue performance and high heat resistance. Ascend Performance Materials established a division in 2018 dedicated to the e-mobility market that would provide high-performance solutions focused on safe power infrastructure, a secure and comfortable ride and reliable thermal manage- ment. The company said it has worked with leading manufacturers on critical applications to improve the performance and safety of electric vehicles. Its team of e-mobility application development engineers and polymer scientists created a solution to dampen noise, vibration, and harshness in electric vehicles, as EV motors produce vibrations at ten times the frequency of internal combustion engines. This makes standard automotive UTH materials for dampening less effective, according to the company.
