PLAST 2018 | SHOW PREVIEW
Battenfeld Airmould internal gas pressure process. The parts will be removed and deposited on the conveyor belt integrated in the production cell by a W918 robot from Wittman. Smart Production with individualisation and
traceability according to the Industry 4.0 concept will be demonstrated on a fully automated and integrat- ed large machine from the MacroPower series. On a MacroPower 500/3400 a TPE shopping bag will be produced with a mould supplied by Haidlmair. At a terminal, visitors can enter their names. To collect the bag with the personalised imprint, each visitor receives a printed voucher with a QR code, which can then be read at the delivery station. After the QR code has been scanned in, the next bag produced will be separated and transferred to a station where it is laser-printed. After the fair, the production data of the “personalized bag” can still be retrieved by scanning the QR code for another fortnight. Han- dling of the bags is done by a W843 pro robot equipped with the R8 control system. Boy is presenting various exhibits at the Plast
show. At the stand of its Italian representative ST.A.TE. Technologies, components of a LED part will be moulded on a Boy 60 E machine equipped with double pump. The two installed servo pumps enable parallel movements and simultaneous oper- ating sequences, which Boy says saves valuable time in the part production during each cycle. A Boy XXS machine with a clamping force of 63
kN is producing a micro injection moulding application. The desktop machine has the com- pany’s Procan Alpha 4 machine control and dynam- ic servo drive. With a screw-plasticizing of 8 to 18 mm according to the “first in first out” principle, maximum specific injection pressures of up to 2,750 bar are available. A 25mm movable injection unit allows decentralized gating. The diagonal arrange- ment of the two tie bars makes the plasticising unit, tool room and ejector easily accessible. Arburg set up its Italian subsidiary 25 years ago.
To mark the occasion, there will be a trade fair premiere of its hybrid Allrounder 820 H in a new design and with the new Gestica control system. Sales of the Allrounder 1120 H with a clamping
force of 6,500 kN began at the Fakuma 2017 fair in Friedrichshafen. In addition, an Allrounder 920 H with a clamping force of 5,000 kN was presented for the first time in the new design. At Plast 2018, the next machine size, a hybrid Allrounder 820 H
with a clamping force of 4,000 kN, will be shown in the new design. The exhibit is the highlight on the exhibition stand and uses PP to produce a 300- gram bucket with a capacity of 9 l in just 11 seconds. Handling is by means of a Multilift V40 linear robotic system with a load capacity of 40 kg. Arburg says its demonstration of an Allrounder
470 E Golden Electric, producing four 5.75 g switch housings from PA6 (GF 30) for the automotive industry in a cycle time of around 20 seconds, “demonstrates that the electric entry-level series is ideally suited to technical injection moulding”. A servo-electrical Integralpicker is used for sprue removal.
In another display, a specially equipped hydrau-
lic Allrounder 370 S is configured for the process- ing of LSR. The machine uses a 4-cavity mould to produce a 4 g valve diaphragm (hardness 60 Shore A) in a cycle time of 30 s. As a practical example of Industry 4.0, a turnkey system built around a vertical Allrounder 375 V injection moulding machine will show how custom- ers’ requirements can be incorporated online into the ongoing injection moulding process. Elastic tension straps will be produced in different variants on demand in a flexible process from shot to shot without any need to change the machine set-up. Arburg says that such an application would be ideal for cable assembly in the automotive industry, for example. Visitors to the Arburg stand can choose between
straps of different lengths, colours and end piece combinations and can enter the variant of their choice directly at the terminal.
