Options for e-mobility Eurotec produces polyamides for automotive applications as well as Tecomid HT PPA and Tecotron PPS materials, with continuous use temperatures up to 180 °C and 210 °C respectively, for under the hood. In the context of the growing e-mobility trend, the company is looking at materials for use in hybrid powertrains. It says that
while hybrid technology reduces the CO2 emis- sions, it requires high electrical power distribution through the vehicle. This demand has already started in passenger cars, as the increase in sensors and the use of more capable electronic devices means the power requirement in the vehicles has increased. This growth in power need increases the risk of fire in the vehicle, so when combined with elevated engine compartment temperature, new solutions needs to be found, it says. Eurotec’s product portfolio already provides a high performance solution, Tecomid NT40 GD40 BK009 XA61, which is a flame retardant and heat stabilised PPA, reinforced with 40% glass fibre. This
