CEO, said: “We have successfully developed and positioned SAS as one of the leading global providers of assembly and logistics

Engel sets machine size record

Austrian injection moulding machine manufacturer Engel has set a new record with two machines it installed at IWT in Winches- ter, Kentucky, US. With a clamping force of 8,000 tonnes each, they are the largest ever built at the St. Valentin plant in Austria. Engel received the

purchase order in Novem- ber 2020 and the handover of the first machine was completed in February 2022, followed a year later by the second. Engel says it is increasingly receiving requests for custom solutions in the “extremely high” clamping force range. The Engel Duo

for injecting a shot weight of 270 lbs (122 kg). The machines have a total length of 96 feet (29.3 m) and a width of 37 feet (6.4 m), which is considered a relatively small footprint in relation to the clamping force and shot size. Jim Moran, Business Development Manager at

Engel North America, explained: “The platens were transported to and from the St. Valentin manufacturing facility along the Danube River on barges: Each machine was fully assembled and tested prior to shipping and then disassembled to be shipped to the US.” www.engelglobal.com
