Upgraded software for the Tempro basic C120 means that the system pressure is measured continuously and a maximum temperature limit is set automatically. If the operator should attempt to set the maximum tempera- ture higher than the calculated maximum temperature setting, the LED set value display flashes and issues a warning. This indicates that an increase of the set maximum temperature is not possible for safety reasons, as the water inlet pressure is too low. At the bottom of the scale, a minimum pressure of 1 bar is fixed in order to prevent cavitations inside the pump case. A second new software feature also serves to

improve occupational safety. To ensure the safe opening of the magnetic valve, a fixed maximum differential pressure must not be exceeded. The temperature controller software is now programmed for pressure reduction at 6 bar in order to protect the functionality of the valve.

Need for speed With its new MC5 mould temperature controller, Matsui is highlighting the short time it takes to reach set temperature, with minimal overshoot. It cites a more powerful pump than on previous models and a more responsive thermocouple sensor. “It quickly and accurately reaches target temperatures within around 0.5°C of set point,” says Greg Lewis, general manager at Matsui America. By taking samples four times every second, the unit maintains optimum temperatures throughout production. The MC5 has a bigger control panel than its prede-
cessor and is equipped with more features as standard than other units. The valves are mounted outside the
