The KSF series is designed specifi- cally for applications with frequent material type, grade, or colour changes, as well as for high pressure applications such as blown film. On this model the screen changers are compact and offer good value for money while permitting quick and easy functionality, says the company.


At the same event, Fimic displayed its flagship melt filter, the RAS 700, which it says illustrates how its technology can be adapted to the application requirements and is precisely designed for filtration processes.


In addition, the company has developed


a screw pump called SPA – available in three sizes – that can be positioned before or after the filter to transport the plastic melt without using gears.


During the show, Fimic experts presented

efficient, productive, and environmentally sustain- able solutions to help OEMs and manufacturers meet today’s production requirements,” said Andreas Wenzel, vice president of Nordson’s polymer processing systems (PPS) division. Its BKG HiCon K-SWE-HD/RS filtration system helps film and sheet producers use more recyclate, which uses its backflush technology to maintain process stability and end product quality. To cope with the high process pressures – espe- cially in blown film applications – it includes a melt-pressure controlled venting start that fully


automates the filling of the screen cavity after a screen change for maximum pressure consistency. In addition, the filling is done carefully so that no air entrap- ments endanger the process or the end product. This means producers can rely on a stable process and greater quality of the


film, it says.


Packaging recycling Starlinger showcased its cleaning and odour-reduction technologies at NPE for recycling of food packaging. A combination of its Recostar Dynamic pelletising line, Viscozero melt phase decontamination technology and PCU Plus down-


stream pellet flushing unit can handle PET, HDPE and PS. “With this machine setup, we present a super-


cleaning solution for post-consumer packaging made of polyolefins such as PP and PE or polysty- rene,” said Paul Niedl, commercial head of Star- linger’s recycling technology division. The process ensures decontamination of post-consumer PP, PE or PS food packaging, to produce food-safe, odour-reduced regranulate that can be reused in the production of food-contact packaging instead of other, lower-grade packaging. “PP, PS and HDPE post-consumer packaging waste degrades during recycling, so can only be used in lower-grade applications,” he said. “Now, the material is upgraded and suitable for high- grade applications including direct food-contact packaging.”


Contaminated melt At the recent Fakuma show, Maag presented its Eco series of continuous high-perfor- mance melt filters, which are used to filter contami- nated polymer melts. For chemical recycling,
