Inkulu Plastic Pipes was set up in 2015 by Gabriel Reddy, who had worked in the plastic pipes industry for more than 30 years. It focuses on producing pipe in HPDE, LDPE and polypropylene (PP), as well as making fabricated fittings. It produces pipe for infrastructure applications such as gas and water transport. The current manufacturing range is 16-630mm pipe.
Product lines: The company concentrates on all types of pipe, in diameters from 16 to 1200mm, and from nominal PN4 up to PN25. The company has also invested in a pipe granulator recently, in order to control first-generation HDPE that is produced in-house. By regranulating the scrap, it says it can ensure that it uses only virgin HDPE in its products. The company has also recently moved into hot water PP pipe, as well as optical fibre cables made from HDPE.
Factory location: The company makes all its products from its factory in Hammersdale in Kwazulu Natal. The 3,440 sq m leased factory took delivery of its first two machine in the first week of business – and the first pipes were extruded directly into the back of a delivery truck. The company now has six extrusion lines – which run around the clock – and an output of around 1,000 tonnes per month.
