and improved installation performance. The product will be available in diameters of 30-60in,
and lengths of 13-20ft. HPXR 75 will allow for a broad range of backfill
materials and installation conditions, reducing costs while increasing installation speed with confidence of consistent line and grade, says ADS. The watertight bell and spigot exceeds ASTM D3212 and complies with ASTM F477.

Kabra partnerships Kabra Extrusiontechnik, an Indian manufacturer of extrusion machinery, has signed two separate technology partnerships with European machinery manufacturers. Firstly, it has entered into a joint venture with Extron
Mecanor of Finland, which makes pipe socketing and belling equipment. The company’s Mecabell socketing machines achieve flexibility through interchangeable tools and attachments, it says. They can be used for both conventional and corrugated pipe. At the same time, Kabra announced a strategic
partnership with German corrugated pipe machinery producer Unicor, to provide extruder systems for local and international markets. The collaboration plans to make corrugated pipe machine in India by combining Unicor’s expertise with Kabra’s manufacturing capabili- ties – to offer value-for-money machinery for India and other markets.
Higher stiffness Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS) has introduced a new type of storm water pipe called HPXR 75. The new technology provides higher stiffness, is
available in a range of sizes, and has significant cost benefits, says the company. ADS internally developed and designed HPXR 75. It

and growing infrastructure and public construction markets for larger diameter storm pipe,” said Joe Chlapaty, chairman and CEO of ADS. “The construction industry is seeking product options with improved service characteristics, installation durability and increased joint performance – and HPXR 75 will address those needs.” The city of Greenville, in South Carolina, recently
replaced parts of its ageing sewage network with corrugated pipe from ADS. More than 2,500 ft of ADS’s SaniTite HP pipe was used in the project. The pipe is supplied in 20-foot stick lengths, meaning that fewer joints were needed during construction. “We selected the ADS pipe because it could handle
the capacity based on the velocity of the system,” said Matthew Maxey, assistant city engineer for wastewater at Greenville. “We did look at alternatives such as PVC. From what we could see – the testing that had been done, the DOT approvals and the good track record of the materials – it would do the job.” The 15in diameter SaniTite HP pipe has a smooth
interior and corrugated exterior. Its stiffness and beam strength reduces deflection and enhances long-term performance, while it meets ASTM F2736, ASTM F2764 and exceeds ASTM D3212 for water tightness with dual-gaskets and banded reinforced bell. The watertight joints prevent excess water from the
ground from entering the system, which would create an additional water treatment burden on the treatment plant.
Maxey said that the city has some of the oldest
gravity flow sewer mains in the USA – about 120 years old, and mostly vitrified clay pipe.
Effective seal Corma of Canada says that its Super Coupling technol- ogy is a cost effective way to improve the effectiveness of a pipe’s seal. It uses an extended sleeve to create a more robust
seal between the pipe layers within the coupling. In addition, it is designed to maintain a full seal even during events such as earthquakes, high traffic loads and
