PVC REGULATION | ANALYSIS

from 2.0% to 1.5%. In addition, it states that derogated material in manu- factured articles must, unless inaccessible during normal use, be fully en- closed in a layer of PVC that complies with the 0.1% limit. The Regulation also states

that recovered rigid PVC can only be recycled back into the same application, for example window profile to window profile. This is to ensure that any potential risk is restricted to identifiable products. In addition, any products containing PVC with lead levels of more than the 0.1%, whether encapsu- lated or not, must carry advisory markings. More specific detail on

the streams, required markings, traceability and

documentation require- ments, as well as phase-in timelines, is contained in the ANNEX to the Regulation. In a statement,

derogation on the use of two lead-containing pigments — lead sulphochromate yellow and lead chromate molyb- date sulphate red. The Commission has done so as use of these two compounds will be considered within a separate restriction dossier currently being prepared by ECHA. www.commission.europa.euwww.echa.europa.euwww.vinylplus.eu
