Mood Boost
We’ve all felt that moment of ecstasy while enjoying a piece of melt-in-your-mouth
chocolate. Turns out this happy feeling isn’t just
in our heads! That’s because chocolate contains two ‘feel-good’ chemicals, phenylethylamine
and serotonin that may help elevate your mood. One Swiss study even found that consuming a small daily dose of (dark) chocolate lowered stress hormones in people with high anxiety levels. Bet I just put a smile on your face. ;)
JOY’S DARK CHOCOLATE FONDUE In a medium saucepan, whisk 1 tbsp cornstarch into 1 (12 oz)
can evaporated milk. Place over low heat and stir in ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder, ½ cup sugar, ½ tsp vanilla extract, and 1
/8 tsp Kosher salt. Cook, whisking constantly, until
thoroughly combined and the liquid starts to thicken, about 10 minutes. Serve immediately with strawberries and pineapple (or other fresh fruit, such as sliced apples, pears and bananas).
