Julie Hrebicek the director of transportation for Magnolia Independent School District in Texas is the 16th recipient of the Peter J. Grandolfo Award, presented at STN EXPO Reno. Linda Grandolfo presented the award to Hrebicek and said, “Students, parents, employees and administrators’ lives are better because of her.” Read more at stnonline.com/go/gr.


This was my first opportunity to attend STN [EXPO], and moving forward, it will be hard to top this one. And then, there was the recognition for the Peter J. Grandolfo award. I am so honored and humbled to have even been considered for such an award, and I thank you. I realize that there is a huge responsibility in receiving an award such as this, and I will continue to do my very best in representing Mr. Grandolfo’s legacy and purpose in serving our students and each other. Veronica Tenorio, a school bus driver for Santa Fe Indian School in New Mexico, celebrated her 30th year behind the wheel in September. She spoke with STN at the Green Bus Summit at STN EXPO Reno on her thoughts about electric school buses and the advances made by the student transportation industry over the last three decades. A Brazilian schoolgirl died last week after she leaned her head out a bus window and was hit by a pole, suffering a fatal head injury.
