Scarborough is promoting itself as a destination port and is becoming increasingly popular due to recent dredging and an improved experience for visiting crew. The attractions include Regal Lady, one of the famed Dunkirk ‘little ships’, and Southern Star, an 80ft vessel open to the public that
sells seaweed-based products, harvested and manufactured by local company SeaGrown. Both these vessels have bars and catering (subject to Covid-19 restrictions).

The new barrier became operational at the end of last year. The next stage of this project will be works to the commercial dock entrance. This will require a temporary mooring dolphin in the river to allow commercial shipping to be swung. The project is due to be completed in 2022.

A woman in the dinghy was injured and the dinghy sank. The prosecution was brought by the Port of Sheerness.
