CRHRA News August 2022
CRHRA Trail Community
is now up and running. Everyone that is a CRHRA member is a member of the Trail Community for 2022. BFL is sending out Insur-
ance Certificates for each mem- ber to be sure you have the proper proof for any of the events that may happen through the Trail Community. The Insurance Certificate is what you can also show to any other events you at- tend. Until you receive your cer- tificates your tags and welcome letter can be used. Any issues call or email Bonnie operationsman-
agercrhra@gmail.com 705-878- 2684.
The First Sanctioned Trail
Community Event is scheduled for the 30th and 31 of August. Events are posted on CRHRA facebook page. To register con- t
a c t
crhratrailcommunity@gmail.co m. Laurie will send you instruc- tions to follow along with all the information concerning the For- est costs and rules. Arrival times and departure times. You must be
a CRHRA member to attend all Sanctioned events. You can use your phone to join CRHRA and become a member the day of the event as it sends a confirmation immediately by email. Once you are at the event
you can ride at your own pace and camp with whom you wish, so encourage your friends to come.
Those riding and camping
together are responsible for each other. What this means is that if 8 go out together 8 should come back or at least by the end of the riding day everyone should be accounted for. Come prepared with ade-
quate feed for your horse and you. Always bring a first aid kit for you and your horse. Carry a first aid kit on you, not the horse when out on a ride. Have a fully charged cell phone. Laurie will provide a ferrier, vet and hospital that is in the area if requested. These events are a great
way to meet new people but re- member not everyone is a sea- soned rider so be patient and respectful. We all have had to learn!
We ask that everyone get
along at these events. The pur- pose is to bring people together to ride and camp for seasoned
riders or new riders. The more rides we do it shows that horses are a relevant part of the trails in all provinces. The Other Benefit we are
offering through the Trail Com- munity is that anyone who is going riding and wants company can announce this on our face- book page. All you have to do is contact Laurie at crhratrailcom-
munity@gmail.com with all the details and she will post it to our facebook page for you. Be sure to send her all the
information as in location, costs, arrival, departure, rules etc and your contact info. The main difference be-
tween this and a Sanctioned CRHRA Trail Community ride is that this one you do not have to be a CRHRA member but we hope that you will see the value of being a member and join. The benefits outweigh the cost for sure. Adequate insurance cover- age and the ability to connect with members from all of the provinces and territories. Assis- tance from the trail community coordinator to help with organising the ride. There are guidelines that
everyone should follow on the trails: 1. No smoking
2. No alcohol, drugs 3. Ride to your ability 4. Ride to the right side of the trail 5. Be mindful of what is around you, wildlife, as in bears, deer, moose, snakes, etc . Some parts of the province still have rat- tlesnakes. 6. Know the rules concerning dogs on the trail and leashing. 7. Be courteous and communi- cate with other trail users. 8. No pruning or breaking of branches on trees. The forest management attends to this. If you see a problem, contact the forest. 9. Do not waide into a pond or river. Most of the time the bottom is soft and the horse will sink and be difficult for them to get their footing. Water from the shore line. 10. Follow the rules in the camp- ing areas as in proper contain- ment of your horse. Each area can differ. 11. Dispose of unused hay and manure in designated areas. 12. Take home all the garbage. 13. Leave your campsite clean. 14. Be mindful of your camping neighbours, keep the noise down. 15. Follow the trail signs some are single use some are multi use. 16. It is always helpful if you have a map of the trails. It is easy to get turned around. 17. Keep track of those you are

riding with. New riders and young horses can encounter problems. Even the seasoned rider and horse can have issues. 18. Be mindful of the weather. With global warming our storms are more severe and happen quickly with little warning. 19. Be aware of heat exhaustion for you and your horse. Keep hy- drated and carry snacks. 20. Wear a form of footwear that you can walk back to camp with if your horse gets injured. Noth- ing worse than sore feet. 21. Carry rain gear and a jacket as the weather changes so quickly again because of global warming. 22. If you have health issues that require medication while on the trail carry with you for at least 8 hours and bring more than the ride event time. Also inform someone in your group of your condition so they can be of assis- tance if needed. If your horse needs medication be sure and bring more than the days of the event just incase of a road closure again due to the weather. 23. COVID is still ramped and will continue to be so for a long time. Even if you have 4 doses of vaccines you can get infected. Keep your distance and wear a mask if in close quarters with other riders as in camp fires, meals, etc. I would like to thank all our
