Ontario Trail Rider Association Submission for ‘The Rider’ – AUGUST 2022 Issue

Really? August? Time

flies when you are heaving fun! Our July ride at the Duf- ferin County Forest Main Tract, which for the first time was a full week of riding and camping, was another OTRA success and we will sure plan it again next year! We had a core group of campers stay- ing the whole week, welcom- ing a number of new members who were either joining in for a day ride, or several who experienced horse camping and highlining their horses for the very first time. Everyone did extremely well, and we made sure we accommodated around every- one’s comfort and ability level. Our two youngest rid- ers Vivienne and Larissa had a ball on their horses Lilly and Badger and looked like old ‘pros’ walking down the trail with the rest of us. One rainy day out of seven made this a beautiful and mostly sunny week, with few bugs to swat off. By the time you sit down

to read this we will have just finished our 4th scheduled ride - I am packing as I am writing! Again, this will be at

the Dufferin Main Tract as usual, and we are expecting another great weekend with mostly sunny skies. To complete our ride’n

camp season we will have our last Dufferin ride September 9-11 which we have also re- served as our ‘Annual Fun-D- Event’. Plans are currently being finalized and the fundraising will take place on the Saturday which will be filled with FUN, LAUGH- TER,

EDUCATION,

PRIZES, RAFFLE, AUC- TION ... and DINNER. We will ride in the morning as usual, but the full day will be reserved for participants only! Registration is required for Saturday with a fee of $50 per person - you can choose to just come out for the day or stay the full weekend. Please confirm and reserve your spot before the registration dead- line August 20th by contact- ing

Elaine at

otratreasurer@gmail.com. You don’t want to miss this one!

Now back to packing..

and see you on trail. Submitted by Sonja
