26/ AUGUST / SEPTEMBER 2022 THE RIDER Equestrian Vaulting in Ontario! North Dundas wel-

comed 52 vaulters from across Ontario this past weekend as part of a provin- cial vaulting show series! Vaulting is an eques-

trian sport combined with gymnastics and dance! It is a FEI nationally recognized sport, and part of the World Equestrian Games. Unlike trick riding,

where the focus is who can

out stunt who, vaulting competitions judging

include a panel where

vaulters are judged on har- mony with the horse, artistic interpretation, strength, cho- reographed freestyles, gym- nastic-like moves

and

balance. It takes extreme dedi-

cation, training, and confi- dence. The horses are like no others, and coaches and

clubs work together across the province, and country! This is truly a spectac-

ular sport and supportive community. Sat June 18th, Ontario

celebrated by hosting their first provincial Vaulting Competition live since pre Covid. Saturday’s show was held at Nation Valley Ranch in Chesterville Ont, home to Nation Valley Vaulters., and judged by Canadian judge, Nicole de Villiers who flew in from BC. There are 4 clubs in Ontario, from Lis- towel, Maple Rock Vaulters, Peterborough’s Hoofprint Vaulters, Chesterville’s Na- tion Valley Vaulters and Hope and Dreams Vaulters. On top of the excite-

ment of the provincial show series underway, Ontario has been invited to send vaulters to Nationals held in Alberta this year!
