YOUNG TILING TALENT GETS SUPPORT FROM

RUBI UK The UK’s most talented young apprentices, battling to represent their country, are receiving invaluable help from RUBI UK and Ireland LTD.

The company, which makes professional tiling tools, has offered its support to WorldSkills UK, the organisation which powers the most exacting and prestigious regional, national and international competition for young skilled people.

RUBI UK and Ireland has sponsored and supported WorldSkills with resources, such as tiling tools and clothing, to support the training of Mark Scott and Daniel McBurney who are currently training with the

aim of representing the UK in Wall and Floor Tiling at WorldSkills Kazan 2019. The support from RUBI UK and Ireland will provide vital support for competitors to showcase their abilities.

Dr Neil Bentley, CEO of WorldSkills UK, said: “Thank you RUBI UK and Ireland for your invaluable support.

“Skills are the lifeblood of UK business and this partnership will play an important role, helping to nurture the very best talented young people to represent the UK in WorldSkills, the “Skills Olympics” – and make them iconic for others to follow in their footsteps.”

Mr Vladimir Hoyos, Managing Director of RUBI UK LTD, said: “Promoting tiling skills in talented young trades people is one of our

main goals in the UK and Ireland; this partnership will allow them to benefit from using the latest tiling tools and equipment supplied by Rubi – the market leader in tiling tools.

“Importantly this will give them extra confidence when they eventually go to represent the UK in all the competitions and ultimately into the work place.”

Mark and Daniel are being trained for the WorldSkills Competition by Paul Doran, a lecturer at Southern Regional College, Northern Ireland. As part of the training programme, Mark Scott will represented the UK at EuroSkills Budapest 2018 this September.

NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN FOR TTS AWARDS 2019

We are delighted to announce that nominations for the Tomorrow’s Tile & Stone Awards (TTS) 2019 are now officially open.

After a successful inaugural TTS awards last year, we are once again offering you the chance to give your favourite product or service the recognition it deserves.

If you, as a tiling professional, have used a product or service over the last 12 months that you think is worthy of an award, we want to hear from you! You can also get in touch if you think your company’s latest innovations or trusted services deserve to win.

To enter a product or service for this year’s awards, email Georgie Whitworth at georgie@opusbm.co.uk with the name of your favourite innovation and why it

should be included. We are accepting submissions until Friday 28th September.

When nominations close, a ‘Top 20’ will then be selected and included in our Awards Guide, which will be produced at the end of 2018, in time for when voting opens in the new year. Voting will be open to the public until March 2019, when the top three winners will be announced.

Georgie Whitworth, Editor of Tomorrow’s Tile & Stone, said: “We were overwhelmed with the response we got to the first ever Tomorrow’s Tile & Stone awards when they launched last year.

“We’re very excited to once again have the chance to celebrate the revolutions changing the face of the sector in our 2019 Awards.”
