WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB? My first job was working in the marketing
department of Waterford Wedgwood Japan in Tokyo.
HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE TILING INDUSTRY?
I got a job as Marketing Director with British Ceramic Tile in 2001, arriving on the day that they re-opened the factory as a twice-fired operation.
WHO, IN ANY OTHER INDUSTRY, DO YOU MOST ADMIRE?
Anita Roddick, human rights activist, environmental campaigner and founder of The Body Shop. She stuck by her morals and still made a success of her business.
IF MONEY WAS NO OBJECT, WHAT CAR WOULD YOU BUY?
A VW Camper Van – I’ve always wanted one. Q5
IF YOU COULD INVENT ONE PRODUCT TO MAKE YOUR JOB EASIER, WHAT
WOULD IT BE? Something that made clients get information to me well in advance of the print deadline.

JIM PERCIVAL, TECHNICAL DIRECTOR AT LATICRETE, ASKED:
WHAT BENEFITS WILL BREXIT OFFER THE
TILING SECTOR? It’s impossible to say in the long term but in the short term it should help the British manufacturers as imports will be more expensive due to the weaker pound and possible tariffs if there is no deal. However, as a lot of the raw materials are imported, even manufacturers will have higher costs, so the effect may not be huge.

WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU WERE GROWING UP?
I didn’t really know, just something that meant I could travel.
WHAT DO YOU DO TO UNWIND? Go walking in the mountains around where I live,
cook, eat and drink (too much) wine with friends.
IF YOU COULD HOST A DINNER PARTY WITH ANY THREE GUESTS, DEAD OR
ALIVE, WHO WOULD THEY BE AND WHY? Oscar Wilde for witty conversation, Julie Walters because I love her acting and she makes me laugh, and Billy Connolly for the same reason.
IF YOU COULD VISIT ANY PLACE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD YOU GO
AND WHY? Peru – I’ve always wanted to go there ever since reading Paddington Bear as a child, and I would love to see the Andes. Plus, I’ve never been to South America.
