WET ROOMS

SEAL THE DEAL

Kerakoll advises on a fast secure way to waterproof a wet room.

Kerakoll’s Laminate Vapor Pro waterproofing system uses Kerakoll Aquastop Fabric to waterproof exposed walls and floors fast and effectively, thus protecting substrates from moisture and condensation even in rooms saturated with steam. Shower, spas, wet areas, balconies, terraces and even pools can be safely waterproofed and tiled.

Apply a layer of H40 Gel or H40 Advanced on to the substrate and bed Kerakoll Aquastop Fabric into the adhesive to adhere the membrane, leaving a 5mm spacing gap between all of the membrane joints. Aquastop Fabric membrane is a thin, waterproof polyethylene sheet with high expansion/anti-tear, coated on both sides with polypropylene fabric. It is ideal as an anti-cracking waterproofing system/composition for areas under moderate stress, and guarantees optimum adherence with adhesives from H40 range.

Next, cover the joints, edges and corners of the Aquastop Fabric with Kerakoll Aquastop Fix and bed in Kerakoll Aquastop 120 waterproofing tape to ensure watertightness. Aquastop Fix uses nanotechnology to make the joints of the Aquastop Fabric totally waterproof and give it high chemical stability.

There is no waiting time before installing coverings on top of Aquastop Fix, so you can fix the tiles immediately using H40 Gel or H40 Advanced to create a secure adhesive bond between the tiles and membrane.

Finish with Fugalite Color. This next-generation epoxy resin combines the performance of epoxy grout with unparalleled ease of use. It’s available in 50 different shades so you can choose to match the grout with the tiles or create a contrast.

Every project is unique, and it is important to take into account any particular issues that may be present. The best way to do this is to get the Kerakoll team involved when choosing the products and to get in touch with them for advice should an unforeseen issue occur on site.
