FEATURE Who are Pointex?
Since the Renaissance, Florence has had a reputation for being home to what is both best and beautiful. Whether it be in architecture (Il Duomo Di Firenze), fashion (the geometric designs of Emilio Pucci) or the production methods and quality of the textiles produced by the craftsmen and weavers of the Renaissance, Florence has a tradition for being at the forefront of innovation, a tradition that Pointex Spa are keen to uphold.
Founded in 1990 by Marco Ranaldo, Pointex's original focus was the manufacture of car seat covers that avoided the generic and were as individual as the customers themselves. The success of this venture played a big part in forming the Pointex philosophy; that only by paying attention to the market situation are you able to turn customer needs into solutions.
Approaching the new century with this philosophy at the forefront and by encompassing technological advancements in both printing and fabric production, Pointex has been able to shift and expand its production from bespoke car covers to the manufacture of carpets and fabrics that are as individual and unique as the client.
New in both development and production at Pointex is a collection of technologically-innovative 3D fabrics and carpets aimed at the domestic, social and business markets. Always on the lookout for the innovative, the newest addition to this collection is the Susy range. Produced by weaving a design on a jacquard loom, then bonding the fabric with a thermoplastic backing, this range of rug runners are guaranteed never to disintegrate or fray even in the most well-trodden of environments.
