SAFETY & HEALTH EXPO SHOW GUIDE
to answer any questions about ISO 45001, and to provide organisations with a clear understanding of the requirements it places on them.”
SGS Stand S350
SGS United Kingdom Ltd (SGS), a leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, will make its first appearance at the Safety & Health Expo to engage with visitors on the typical pitfalls of the new ISO 45001 standard, and how to overcome them.
UK Product Manager at SGS, Kate Breslin, will host a session on Wednesday 20 June to review the processes involved in migrating from an OHSAS 18001 management system to the new ISO 45001 system. She will consider in particular the shift in structure to the widely used Annex SL format of the existing ISO standards.
Kate said: “For companies used to the OHSAS 18001 standard, it’s important that they are made aware of anticipated challenges that will arise from this new standard.
“The SGS team will be on hand for the full expo event at stand S350
The Annex SL structure has been widely adopted by the majority of ISO standards, and as a result allows organisations to better integrate a number of different ones. The Annex SL structure of the new ISO 45001 is also more accessible to an organisation’s workforce, and requires the active commitment and input from senior management, as well as the relevant department team members.
This necessity for company leaders to be involved in the process is a key marker in the success of the management system, and the continued improvement of an organisation’s operational processes.
SGS – a UKAS accredited certification body – carries out audits in the UK and overseas, and offers group certificates to large multi-national organisations.
Kate Breslin will host the session ‘The Migration from OHSAS 18001 to ISO 45001’ on Wednesday 20 June at 2.45pm, in the Operational Excellence Theatre.

3M AND SCOTT SAFETY Stand M220
Science-based technology company 3M and premium manufacturer Scott Safety will exhibit as one at this year’s Safety & Health Expo.
It comes after 3M acquired Scott Safety in 2017, expanding 3M’s range of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) systems and gas and flame detection instruments, among other innovative devices.
At the exhibition stand, 3M will display its wide PPE portfolio, including these new devices and the company’s pre- existing offering, with experts on hand to answer visitors’ questions.
Steve Crouchley, senior marketer for the 3M Personal Safety division, said: “We’re excited that 3M and Scott Safety will be exhibiting as one at this year’s Safety & Health Expo, allowing us to showcase our newly expanded offering.
“I encourage visitors to stop by our stand. We look forward to speaking with new and existing contacts at what is sure to be another great event.”

SAFESTART Stand P255
Following a number of successful UK workshops this year, SafeStart, an advanced safety awareness programme, will exhibit for the first time at the Safety & Health Expo. Larry Wilson, CEO of SafeStart and creator of the programme will also be in attendance.
SafeStart addresses everyday safety issues experienced by managers including human error, recurring injuries, lack of employee

engagement, and the perceived conflict between production and safety. Instead of focusing on the hazard, SafeStart focuses on the state of mind that the individual is in and how this could lead to an incident occurring. The states of mind are rushing, frustration, fatigue and complacency. The programme addresses this state- to-error risk pattern, providing key skills and techniques to minimise errors that are said to be responsible for more than 95% of all injuries on and off the job. SafeStart
Moving beyond traditional safety programmes, the initiative helps companies go beyond compliance and simultaneously improve not only safety but overall performance, employee engagement, culture, home safety and business results. SafeStart is relevant to everyone, everywhere.
Larry Wilson said: “We have experienced great success at our discovery workshops this year and are looking forward to meeting Safety & Health Expo visitors, demonstrating how our solutions give individuals the skills to improve their safety both at work and home.”
