SAFETY & HEALTH EXPO SHOW GUIDE CHANGING PERCEPTIONS


Here, we present three diverse, inspirational speakers who will be taking centre stage at the Safety & Health Expo Keynote Theatre, supported by Safety Media.


NICKY MOFFAT CBE Safety & Health Expo is proud to welcome Nicky Moffat CBE, formerly the British Army’s highest ranking female officer, to deliver a fascinating and highly practical talk titled The role of Leaders in Driving Inclusive Change.


With over 30 years’ experience in leadership roles within the army, Nicky has successfully led diverse groups in an organisation both steeped in tradition and subject to rapid and significant changes of policy, technology and resources. She has taken leading roles in administration, planning and training, including instructing officers in the art of leadership.


Her keynote will offer an educated perspective on strong leadership as well as tangible, tried-and-tested methodology in driving inclusive change and optimum performance, undoubtedly offering safety and health professionals the ideas they need to change perceptions and establish organisational culture.


Joining the army as a second lieutenant, Nicky rose quickly through the ranks of the Adjutant General's Corps to the rank of Brigadier. As Company Commander in the Army Training Regiment, Nicky lead a team of instructors responsible for the induction of recruits into the army before moving into management and training for all Army Land Forces across the world. She moved to the Ministry of Defence where as well as strategy, policy and finance roles, she worked as Private Secretary to Secretary of State for Defence Geoff Hoon. She formulated and communicated the government

agenda on defence, including on operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Sierra Leone.


Nicky will be taking to the Safety & Health Expo Keynote Stage, supported by Safety Media, at 13.00 on Wednesday 20th June.


RUBY WAX OBE Known for being an unconventional interviewer, comedian, writer and actor, Ruby Wax has become a respected and high-profile campaigner for a raising a greater awareness of mental health issues, recently adding best-selling memoirist and qualified mental health expert to her repertoire.


Holding a Masters in Psychology, Ruby is a Visiting Professor in Mental Health Nursing at the University of Surrey, a patron for the British Neuroscience Association, has worked with the Home Office to raise awareness of mental health, and has collaborated with Google on how technology can aid mindfulness. Her acclaimed TED speech on the importance of viewing mental health on a par with physical health is one of the most popular on the subject.


Taking to the Safety & Health Expo Keynote Stage, supported by Safety Media, at 11.30 on Tuesday 19th June, Ruby will address the importance of good mental health as well as tackling the problems of communication within businesses and organisations, especially for leaders. Combining psychological insights with her understanding of writing and performing, and of course humour, Ruby helps both individuals and groups understand how to create an open, honest culture that encourages and succeeds.


This is sure to be a hilarious yet essential education not to be missed by responsible employers and employees alike.


SIR CLIVE WOODWARD OBE English rugby legend and management pioneer Sir Clive Woodward will talk about the key attributes needed to create a winning team on and off the pitch; talent, teachability, pressure and will. Universally credited with bringing world-class professionalism, cutting edge techniques and new management skills to English rugby, Clive explains how this back-room expertise can be applied effectively to businesses in preparation for challenging situations and to enable optimum service delivery.


After famously guiding England to victory in the 2003 Rugby World Cup and three Six Nations tournaments, Clive has since served as Director of Sport at the British Olympic Association, working in partnership with UK Sport. During this time, London 2012 produced the most successful British performance of the modern era, with 65 medals including 29 golds.


Outside of sport, Clive has made great waves in the wider business world, first with Rank Xerox in the UK and Australia, then as sales director within the Ford Group, before forming his own successful leasing operation.


Clive will take centre stage in the Keynote Theatre, supported by Safety Media, at the Safety & Health Expo at 11.30 on Thursday 21st June to share his inspirational anecdotes. Learn how to apply his celebrated techniques to your own success story.
