www.tomorrowshs.com Hello and welcome to the June issue of Tomorrow’s Health & Safety.

The biggest event of the year is nearly upon us, and it feels as though Safety and Health Expo 2018 will be the most significant yet with the various

debates happening across the industry. From the aftermath of Grenfell and the systemic issues the disaster has exposed to the numerous changes in

international standards and regulations, there should be plenty to talk about with like-minded professionals.

We are taking this issue, and the show guide contained within, to the ExCeL arena with us, so please do come and see us at our stand (V147); we’re a friendly bunch and keen to talk to as many people as possible.

According to research published earlier this month from Group Risk Development (GRiD), stress and stress-inducing situations, are the main causes of short-term absence amongst UK workers. Having spoken to the

British Safety Council for this issue’s Workplace Health & Wellbeing spotlight, it’s clear that fatigue plays a huge role in the majority (60-80%) of workplace accidents. It seems to be an entirely appropriate time to look at the wellbeing subject in more depth. Industry-wide, there’s a definitive need for a more holistic approach to sound mental health and an acknowledgement of the benefits it brings to employees and businesses alike.

Elsewhere, Percy Hughes & Roberts Solicitors explain the legal

responsibilities associated with working alone for our Lone Worker Protection feature, Vismo address some of the security issues Russia will face during

the FIFA World Cup in our section on Emergency Evacuations and Slip Safety Services argues for a proactive approach to slip safety management in... you guessed it, Slips, Trips and Falls.
