Challenging working environments require respiratory protection equipment (RPE) that is robust, comfortable and, most critically, safe and reliable.
Developed by Dräger, the X-plore 8000 Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) system features battery operated blower units that draw in ambient air, pass it through an appropriate filter, then feed clean air into a selected headpiece. Offering minimal breathing resistance, the system enables the user to breathe freely, even during demanding tasks and in challenging environments, allowing them to be worn for longer periods. Loose fitting headpieces also mean that the system can provide respiratory protection for wearers where a tight-fitting face seal is not possible (for example due to facial hair or scars).
The X-plore 8000 system is modular and flexible, and includes a range of interchangeable components, including a selection of filters and headpieces comprising visors, helmets and hoods, allowing it to be tailored to suit specific hazards. It also offers the option of a blower unit designed specifically for potentially explosive atmospheres.
Extremely robust with rugged, heavy-duty design featuring rubber bump protectors and high ingress protection (IP65) against dust and water, the system is practically maintenance-free, and this, together with long lasting durability, leads to a low cost of ownership over time.
Key features that ensure safe and reliable use:
No calibration is required at start up, meaning work can begin quickly and simply.
• A digital display features clear symbols for key data: air flow level, filter saturation and battery charge can be easily monitored.
• An error-proof hose connector prevents operation if the hose is not connected correctly.
• An intelligent alarm system triggers optical, acoustic and vibration alarms to alert the user to
clogged particle filters, low battery capacity and a disconnected hose, and warning them to act.
• The unit recognises different connected headpieces and automatically selects the correct minimum flow rate,
avoiding leakages caused by insufficient flow rates.
• Plug-and-go filter exchange means that filters can be quickly and easily changed.
• An optical sensor prevents operation without the filter, detects the filter being used and displays the saturation
