Managing Health and Safety Risks – The Essentials was developed to cover the range of health and safety legislation that applies to workplaces in the UK, but also to takes into account that IIRSM has an international reach – one of the Institute’s key differentiators. The risks that our international communities may face can be very different to that of our UK organisations.
Managing Health and Safety Risks, shortlisted for the Association Excellence Awards for Best Learning/ Professional Development Programme, provides an essential understanding of why employees should – and how they can – proactively play their role in managing health and safety.
This is a two-day course, delivered in a live, online learning environment and features newly refreshed, real-life case studies to highlight the impact of events, along with video, discussion, group and reflective activities, so that participants can apply the theory to their own workplace scenarios.
Participants on the training course gain:
• An appreciation of why health and safety matters to the organisation, including how it relates to the wider risk management of the organisation, and their role in ensuring good health and safety management.
• An overview of the key principles and processes involved in managing health and safety, that can be
applied to any organisation, industry or location.
• The ability to conduct a risk assessment, investigate an incident and set action plans.
• Knowledge of the critical role of culture and people and the key leadership behaviours needed to
engage with their teams and those more senior.
• An appreciation of the evolving nature of health and safety risks.
• An understanding of sources of reliable and relevant information, to proactively manage health and
