FeverTIR by Patol
A new system designed to automatically test body temperature is adding an important technological contribution in the ongoing war against COVID-19.
FeverTIR is a thermography system which quickly and accurately measures people’s body temperature without any need for contact. With a fever being one of the main symptoms of COVID-19 infection (as well as many other contagious diseases), organisations are looking to ways in which employees and other building users can be screened for possible infection.
Many of the existing potential methods are labour-intensive, time-consuming and expensive but by adapting a system originally designed to detect temperature in monitoring for potential fires, a ‘plug & play’ solution has been developed which is available in the UK from Reading-based company Patol.
The system features a high-precision thermal detector with a visible full HD camera which simultaneously measures a person’s core body temperature. This data is accurate to within 0.3°C, supported by a traceable calibration certificate – an important factor when there are alternative technologies on the market which are unproven.
The suitability of the system for medical use is illustrated by FeverTIR meeting the ISO IEC 80601-2-59 Medical Electrical Equipment – Part 2-59 standard. This specifically addresses the basic safety and essential performance requirements of screening thermographs for human febrile temperature screening.
FeverTIR features a special calibration temperature range for measuring facial temperature, offering pre-alarms and alarms with on-screen notification. It provides real-time hot-spot analysis and can be easily integrated with other safety and security systems.

Forearm Shield for Push/Pull
Doors by Pull Doors by FSB
An innovative new device designed and manufactured by German hardware company FSB allows doors with standard pull handles to be converted quickly and easily for hands- free operation and help in the battle to reduce COVID-19 transmission.
The FSB forearm shield for door pulls is fitted quickly to existing standard push/pull handles with the aid of four stainless-steel screws and threaded metal bushes. This enables external doors to be conveniently and safely opened and closed again with the aid of the user’s forearm – thus avoiding hands coming into direct contact with the door handle surface. Made of glass- fibre-reinforced polyamide, which is notable for being extremely rugged and is also easy to clean and disinfect.
Available to buy direct from FSB, the forearm shield is
particularly suited to areas that are subject to high levels of footfall – in healthcare establishments, offices, professional premises or public buildings. Here, any object that users come into contact with regularly is particularly likely to be contaminated and thus act as a host for the transmission of viruses, bacteria and multi-resistant germs.
The FSB forearm shield for door pulls is suitable for use with all standard tubular push/pull handles 19–35 mm in diameter and it can be fitted to handles of angular and oval cross-section. It is securely fastened using four stainless-steel screws, with variable fixing options for vertical/horizontal, top-to-bottom, right-to-left, at any angle.
Design always shapes the way people think and act in FSB’s view, which drives its up-to-the-minute product developments that have a direct bearing on contemporary trends and requirements.
Kee Klamp by Kee Safety
Steel pipe is an inherently efficient structural component. It is strong, has no sharp corners, and is readily available worldwide. The difficulty in using steel pipe to form structures arises when joining. Threaded pipe must be supplied in set lengths making for zero flexibility in installation. Welding is labor intensive, requires a highly skilled workforce, and specialised equipment.
The answer is Kee Klamp components. The underlying principle is simple but highly effective: use slip-on components to create versatile and rigid tubular structures. The Kee Klamp principle has been developed and refined for more than 75 years resulting in an extensive range of components suited for any need.
Kee Klamp features:
• High corrosion resistance. • No welding or threading. • Galvanized for long lasting protection. • Recessed screws for a smooth look. • Quick installation.

Large set screws resists thread stripping. Schedule 40 Pipe sizes 1-1/4” - 2”. The Kee Klamp Fitting.
The simple but effective engineering principle of the Kee Klamp fitting is the foundation of the most versatile pipe connection system available.
There are many variations of fitting to suit a wide range of applications, thus providing the versatility to achieve virtually any structural configuration.
Kee Klamp fittings are iron castings manufactured to the requirements of ASTM A47-77-32510. A range of fittings to suit eight sizes of pipe is available. Hex set screws firmly lock the pipe into the fitting. Set screws are manufactured in case hardened steel and are protected against corrosion by Kee Koat.
A Kee Klamp. fitting (size five to nine) can support an axial load of 2000 lbs per set screw with the set screw tightened to a torque of 29 lbs./ft. This is normally obtained when the set screw is fully tightened using a ratchet wrench.
