Evogen Professional General
Purpose Sanitiser by Genesis Biosciences
Cardiff-based Genesis Biosciences is one of the few companies in the UK to have gone through rigorous anti-viral testing to validate its surface sanitiser’s effectiveness against the COVID-19.
Genesis has seen a huge increase in demand for its new Evogen Professional natural anti-microbial sanitiser and has supplied more than 60 tonnes of product across the entirety of Europe since the beginning of March.
Following the external viral efficacy tests, the Evogen Professional General Purpose Sanitiser is now proven to be effective against all enveloped viruses, including COVID-19 and other coronaviruses. The product was tested according to EN 14476:2013 + A2:2019 which assesses the basic virucidal activity of the test product solution after five minute contact time with the virus.
The company’s general purpose sanitiser concentrate – part of its existing Evogen Professional range - contains natural anti- microbial and anti-viral active ingredients that deliver high- performance sanitisation of all types of hard surfaces without the need for harmful bleach.
The sanitiser is supplied as a concentrate packaged in five litre containers for public commercial use, up to 1000 litre vessels.
Current contracts have seen the solution used by cleaning companies taking on large-scale, industrial jobs, including cleaning public-use facilities such as trains and other modes of transport and outdoor public spaces. The sanitiser can also be used effectively in chemical fogging machines and disinfection services for deep cleaning.
Genesis, which has laboratories in the Welsh capital and a microbial fermentation facility in Lawrenceville, Georgia, uses its expertise in natural anti-microbial compounds and fermenting beneficial bacteria strains, to develop its eco-benign range of products which includes solutions for bathroom, carpet and floor cleaning, odour control and industrial wastewater management.

Face Masks and Snoods with
HeiQ Viroblock Technology by 1TCA
1TCA has launched the first British-made reusable, sustainable and recyclable face masks and snoods manufactured using GRS fabric woven from recycled waste plastic and treated with HeiQ Viroblock technology.
Working in collaboration with sustainability-driven business Project Plan B, 1TcA were aware of the risk of face coverings acting as vectors for viruses and bacteria. Before, during and after use there is a risk of fabric contamination and the transfer of pathogens to and from the surface of the face masks. This can occur when putting them on and taking them off, during disposal and when touching the mask whilst wearing or during adjustment of the fit. The addition of HeiQ Viroblock technology makes the fabric resistant to harmful microbes.

HeiQ Viroblock is one of the first textile finishing technologies that have been successfully tested in a laboratory against the virus that causes the COVID-19 disease, SARS-CoV-2, using the Viral Stability and Persistence test method. Fabrics and textiles treated with HeiQ Viroblock are resistant to microbes, germs, viruses and bacteria.
It inhibits the persistence and growth of viruses and bacteria on the fabric and is a combination of HeiQ’s specially-engineered antimicrobial silver technology and a vesicle technology. The silver releases silver-ions to kill the bacteria and inhibit their growth. HeiQ Viroblock is certified as safe and sustainable as all its ingredients are cosmetic grade, bio-based and recycled.
1TcA masks and snoods not only tackle the issue of cross contamination and help protect the end-user from viruses, germs and bacteria but are also environmentally friendly. The treatment on the face covering lasts for up to 30 washes at energy saving 30°C.
