HEALTH & SAFE T Y

Sponsored by Evac+Chair EXITING SAFELY

Evac+Chair have been delivering emergency evacuation solutions for more than 35 years. Here, the company talks us through its range of solutions to support companies of all sizes.

When it comes to emergency evacuation, all organisations need to ensure they are prepared, so all building occupants – of all levels of mobility – can exit their premises safely. To do this, extra precautions should be taken to accommodate those with mobility impairments to ensure they have access to a safe means of evacuation.

Evacuation chairs are recognised to be the most efficient and user-friendly method to support those with mobility impairments in an evacuation – enabling both the operator and passenger to exit a building safely and efficiently.

Evac+Chair is the recognised, world leader in stairway evacuation solutions for people with reduced mobility. Operating for over 35 years, with its headquarters and manufacturing based in the West Midlands, Evac+Chair’s products are distributed to over 60 countries and installed in a wide range of organisations, including: offices, hotels, schools, universities, sports stadia, retail outlets, factories and various healthcare settings.

The dedicated research and development team at Evac+Chair is continually innovating high-quality and fit for purpose evacuation solutions to safely evacuate people from buildings - in the event of a fire or another emergency – no matter what their mobility impairment.

In an independent clinical study completed by Greenwich University in 2013, the Evac+Chair - a class one medical device - was identified as the fastest way of evacuating patients from hospitals. Similarly, research conducted by Ed Galea, Aoife Hunt and Peter J. Lawrence at Ghent University Hospital, found that in horizontal and vertical evacuation, the Evac+Chair 300H provided the most effective support for evacuation when compared with others.

Training and maintenance service In addition to providing evacuation equipment, Evac+Chair

offers training courses to ensure competence in the safe use of the equipment. Although Evac+Chair products are easy to use, training can help to ensure equipment is as effective as it possibly can be.

Evac+Chair offers two types of training: Operator Training (OT) and Key Trainer Masterclass (KT). The Operator Training course trains your team on the safe and most effective use of the Evac+Chair in an emergency. The Key Trainer course educates key members of your team on the safe use of evacuation chairs, with a level of detail which allows them to train other members of your team.

Evac+Chair also offers an annual maintenance contract to ensure the Evac+Chair remains in good health and is fit for purpose, prolonging the life of the equipment. The contract ensures legal requirements are met in accordance with PUWER Regulations (Provision and Use of Works Equipment Regulations 1988) and includes a visit to your site from one of our engineers, who will carry out a full inspection of your Evac+Chair. You will also receive additional cover which allows you to call out one of our engineers should you have any cause for concern regarding your equipment between site visits.
