ETHICAL CATERING AMBASSADOR AIMING FOR NEW WORLD RECORD TITLES THIS SUMMER
Thomas Franks ambassador and explorer Louis Alexander, 24, from London, is aiming to set a new world record after swimming seven 10km marathons across each of the world’s 'classical seven seas' in just seven weeks.
The ambassador for the ethical caterers completed the final swim of his record-breaking challenge on Friday 19th July in the North Sea.
The young adventurer is raising funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s Research UK in memory of his grandfather who died with the condition. Louis is one of three young people forming Thomas Franks’ talented ambassador programme which provides inspirational talks and workshops to the company’s corporate and educational clients.

Louis aims to set two world records as part of his fundraising endeavours to fight dementia: The youngest person to swim a marathon (10km) in each of the ‘classical’ Seven Seas, and the first person to run a marathon (42.2km) on all Seven Continents and swim a marathon (10km) in each of the ‘classical’ Seven Seas.
Louis Alexander said: “These seven weeks have been the toughest of my life. I have suffered and struggled more than on any other adventure in the last five years. From 40°C temperatures in the Arabian Sea, swimming through an ‘unprecedented algae bloom’ in the Adriatic, to battling swarms of jellyfish in the Black Sea, each swim has been unique with its challenges. But all the sacrifice is worth it as I fulfil once again the promise to my grandfather to fight for everyone around the world affected by dementia.”
Frank Bothwell, Founder of Thomas Franks said: “Our company has always been driven to be different
and as one of our ambassadors, Louis embodies our spirit of individuality while representing our focus on individual and collective social responsibility. Aiming for a world record through this exceptional challenge really demonstrates Louis’ determination to believe in the possible and to never give up while knowing that he has the ability to help create positive change through his fundraising efforts. It’s a real honour to support Louis’ challenges.”
In December last year, Louis completed the final leg of his ‘Running the Seven Continents’ project in Antarctica, running through -25 degrees with wind chill. During the 14-month project he ran seven marathons in the most remote corners of all seven continents, running through two deserts, Alaska, Australian Outback, Amazon Rainforest, Arctic Circle and Antarctica. As a result, he is now one of the youngest members of the '7 Continents Marathon Club'.
