Experience and reliability Ian Williams excels in these environments thanks to the quality, technical skills and training, wherever we’re working, of our directly employed teams, who are all DBS and security checked as standard. Our operational model garners familiarity to residents in sensitive environments and helps to build trust. It also means we can invest heavily in our people to train and upskill our teams through the Ian Williams Academy, which is also responsible for the apprentices in our business that currently make up an industry leading 15% of our workforce.
We can also mobilise quickly when needed. A great example of this agility is the recent military accommodation refurbishment projects we’ve recently delivered as part of our long-standing partnership with the Serco-Equans Defence FM sector joint venture, VIVO Defence Services. We have completed significant projects at the Dartmouth Britannia Royal Naval College and the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines at Lympstone, Devon. These involved largescale, rapid mobilisations of our large pool of directly employed operatives to deliver significant refurbishment work to accommodation within short timeframes. Having permanent staff that are already security checked allows us to respond quicker to meet VIVO’s needs.
VIVO endorsed our work: “We’ve been using their superb skills on numerous different projects, from emergency damp mould works, complete redecoration works (incl. plastering) to minor refurbishments. Their recent nimble mobilisation for an urgent job requiring 40 operatives was second to none. Considering the VIVO working environment is highly controlled being MOD property, it’s an astounding achievement and testament to Ian Williams unprecedented support for their clients.”
Around the UK With decades of experience looking after, refurbishing and helping to maintain buildings in the UK, we’ve worked on some really interesting and varied projects.
The National Trust We’ve been extremely privileged to work on some of the UK’s most treasured buildings through our strong
partnership with the National Trust, helping to protect listed, conservation and heritage buildings. It’s really exciting to be involved in maintaining and renewing the National Trust sites & homes which display such rich history and require specialist experience and respect. We relish the opportunity to showcase how our teams work sensitively and with respect to help conserve these important buildings for years to come. A spokesperson from the National Trust commented: “They have dealt with all the challenges that the use of heritage materials dictate, bringing to bear their extensive knowledge and understanding, especially in the use of products such lime-based renders and lime-washes.”
All at sea! Some of the most exciting – and challenging – projects come courtesy of the company’s long-standing relationship with the charity Trinity House.
Building in our numerous PDA awards, we have recently been selected as a finalist in the Painting & Decorating Association Trophy Awards for the external decoration of the 1841 built Coquet Lighthouse which lies just off the Northumberland coast. Working on some beautiful coastal locations comes with its own challenges and can sometimes involve living offshore for periods of time. Trinity team commented: “Many thanks for the works done by the team. Nothing but compliments received.”
