LIGHTING

These include net energy savings of between 70% and 90%, increased lighting control and performance and access to real-time data to inform operating decisions. As a consequence, I believe we will see a significant shift away from standalone LED lighting measures and a move towards more integrated system solutions that comprise of LED and networked lighting controls, and we’ve configured our offering at CFE Lighting accordingly to offer the very latest and best systems.

The other trend that I expect to see flourish, particularly in light of Brexit, is a demand amongst customers for British manufactured lighting. We’ve seen for ourselves at CFE Lighting how being part of the Made in Britain community has given us a real competitive edge, and it’s a trend that I think will only grow as UK businesses place greater emphasis than ever before on sourcing quality, home-made products. In the same vein, I think we’ll see a surge in demand next year for bespoke, rather than off- the-shelf lighting solutions, with companies recognising the benefits of having tailored solutions in place to meet their needs.

Another area to think about is emergency lighting, both internally and externally. A lot of businesses do not currently meet the current regulations in place for this,

and risk sanctions. At CFE Lighting, we’re already helping a number of businesses to ensure they have legally- compliant, cost-effective and environmentally-friendly emergency lighting systems in place, and in 2021 I think, and hope, that there will be more focus than ever on this critical, and previously often neglected, area of lighting.

“Networked lighting controls can reduce LED loads by nearly half,

and in 2021 I anticipate these will become much more prevalent.”

My final message would be to take advantage of the lighting audits on offer. These provide an analysis of your current energy usage and often give recommendations on the solutions that will not only help you to drive down your energy costs, sometimes by as much as 70%. They also give you much more control and enable you to reduce your business’ environmental footprint significantly.
