Hello and welcome to the February 2026 issue of Tomorrow’s FM.

“Over the years, waste management has evolved from the basic provision of bins to fully-fledged strategies built on data and designed to follow the waste hierarchy,” begins Dany Jammal, Environmental Consultant at Valpak by Reconomy, in her leading feature for this month’s Recycling & Waste Management feature. Dany goes on to argue that with rising landfill taxes and growing pressure for sustainability, forward-thinking facilities managers can use waste management as a strategic tool to cut costs, lower carbon footprints, and future-proof their organisations. You can check out her full feature on page 18. She's also joined in that section by Kenny Fergie, Director at Kingfisher Industrial, who looks at why wear protection is often overlooked in waste and recycling infrastructure, and what FMs can do to enhance site safety in MRFs and ERFs.

We are also covering Cleaning & Hygiene in detail this month. BioHygiene takes a look at how to get the most from hygiene and sustainability in sachets, whilst Lorcan Mekitarian, Chair of the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association, asks what the real cost to the buyers and end users of cleaning and hygiene products is.

Training and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as well as Food & Drink (Catering) round off our in-depth features, with BICSc and Riello providing updates on the former and Midshire and Essity delving into the latter.

Alongside our regular features like What’s New and 10 Questions, we have a small preview on the Manchester Cleaning Show which returns to Manchester Central on 18th - 19th February. The team from our sister publication, Tomorrow’s Cleaning, will be attending so please get in touch with them if you’re looking to discuss editorial plans for the year.
