PTSG ACHIEVES MARKET LIQUIDITY WITH NEW
DIVISION Last year was a significant year for Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG). A UK-based provider of specialist services to the construction and FM sectors, the company extended its provision through the formation of a fifth division: PTSG Water Treatment Ltd.
Two highly strategic acquisitions are at the heart of the new division: Total Environmental Compliance (TEC) and HCS Water Treatment Ltd. Both are premium providers of legionella control and the management of water systems.
The new division sits alongside PTSG Access & Safety Ltd, PTSG Electrical Services Ltd, PTSG Building Access Specialists Ltd and PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd. It adds a different dimension to a business that is already recognised as one of the UK’s leading niche specialist service providers.
National coverage
With TEC’s offices in Widnes and Corby, and HCS based in Glasgow, PTSG Water Treatment Ltd already has a commanding nationwide presence. Recent contracts include The St Mungo Community Housing Association, based in London; the Isle of Anglesey County Council; and the Royal Armouries museum in Leeds and Fort Nelson in Hampshire – both part of the UK National Collection of Arms and Armour. This is only a tiny fraction of the total number but shows that engineers are engaged in projects around the UK – many miles from their office base.
Reducing the risk from Legionella bacteria
The services of PTSG Water Treatment Ltd encompass a wide range of applications in industrial water hygiene and water treatment, with protection from Legionella and compliance with the necessary regulations.
Legionella bacteria are commonly found in water. They multiply where temperatures are between 20°C and

45°C and nutrients are available. The bacteria are dormant below 20°C and do not survive above 60°C.
Legionnaire’s disease is a potentially fatal type of pneumonia, contracted by inhaling airborne water droplets containing viable Legionella bacteria. Such droplets can be created, for example, by hot and cold water outlets, atomisers, wet air conditioning plants and whirlpool or hydrotherapy baths.
PTSG’s risk assessment follows the guidance set out in BSEN 8580:2010, which gives recommendations on the assessment of the risk of legionellosis presented by artificial water systems. It concludes on the condition of plant and advise the customer of any remediation necessary to reduce the risk from Legionella bacteria.
