A warm welcome to the February issue of Tomorrow’s FM. Most of you, unless you’ve been living a Zarathustra-like existence for the
past three years, will have heard of the ‘circular economy’. The term is used
to describe an alternative to a traditional linear economy (make, use, dispose) in which the maximum value of resources is extracted by keeping them in use for as long as possible. By replacing the end-of-life concept with regeneration and restoration, the circular economy aims to cut out waste completely.
As Nick Oettinger, MD of The Furniture Recycling Group, says in the
Recycling & Waste Management feature this month, we should expect to see a significant push from government and consumers alike to get the circular economy off the ground in earnest next year. Research shows that if the core principles of the circular economy were adopted, UK businesses could
benefit by up to £23bn per year. Too good an opportunity to miss out on given that it is both environmentally-conscious and profitable.
Ahead of The Cleaning Show in London next month (19th-21st March), we turn to the world of cleaning, with Jangro CEO Joanne Gilliard exploring
best practice in cleaning and stocking washrooms and Rentokil Specialist Hygiene outlining the essentials to consider when cleaning above ground.
Many of us are still in the new year, new me mode and focussing on living healthier lives. It seems an appropriate time then to be looking at Food &
Drink. Gather & Gather claims the days of instant coffees and stale croissants are over. With employees wanting restaurant quality food and more choice only businesses that innovate and stay fresh will conquer. Finally, Anabas
leads out Training and Development feature, discussing why training should be an ongoing journey based on the individuals in your business.
With the diversity on offer here, there should be something for you all to enjoy until next month.
