LESIURE & RETAIL

MAKING YOUR WASHROOM SAFE AND INVITING

Paul Mulready, Marketing Manager of Northwood Hygiene Products Ltd, talks about how restrooms can live up to extra scrutiny and create that all important right first impression.

With the summer holiday season upon us, many people will be spending more of their spare time in leisure or retail settings. But with Covid-19 cases in a state of constant flux, facilities managers must continue to reassure customers and visitors that their facilities are safe to use.

As leisure and retail facilities prepare for higher seasonal footfall, there is increased pressure on venues to cope with more people frequenting washrooms. Washrooms say a great deal about the quality and cleanliness of the overall building – if they look unsightly, customers are not likely to return – so it’s vital for facilities managers to ensure they satisfy customer expectations and meet all the necessary hygiene requirements.

With Covid-19 restrictions fully lifted, leisure and retail venues are busier than ever, meaning facilities managers must ensure that restrooms are thoroughly clean and regularly checked to demonstrate their establishment’s commitment to infection prevention.

Playing your part Building customer confidence is an important factor as we are all mindful of the need for cleanliness and hygiene. Tatty, dirty-looking or empty dispensers don’t create the right impression and deter people from using them, so providing accessible hand hygiene facilities for visitors is a number one priority. FMs should therefore make sure their restrooms are kept very well stocked with toilet paper, soap and hand towels to encourage people to use them.

Modern, high-capacity systems that can cope with heavy seasonal footfall in leisure and retail outlets, whilst also reducing the need for janitorial staff to frequently visit to top up supplies can be a sensible investment.

Customers have high standards and they need reassurance that the public spaces they visit take their health and safety seriously. Systems like the Raphael range of washroom dispensers from Northwood, are ideal for meeting the demands of busy washrooms, helping to create the right

impression for visitors. Ideal for high-use settings, Raphael helps to deliver improved washroom hygiene standards, whilst also saving money and reducing waste.

The Raphael range is developed to deliver a pleasant user experience and includes a toilet tissue dispenser, four hand towel dispensers and a soap dispenser.

Raphael’s roll towel dispensers hold up to 250 metres each and provide approximately 500 dries, with some offering stub-roll transfer to ensure zero waste. The folded towel dispenser has a 1,000-sheet capacity, with all Raphael hand drying systems dispensing flat sheets one at a time to prevent overuse. To further reduce over usage and minimise any mess in the washroom, our dispensers have been designed not to free roll.

Withstanding wear and tear Continuous use means that washroom dispensers in leisure and retail settings will inevitably be subjected to more than a few knocks and scratches along the way. Broken or poorly functioning products create the wrong first impression when visitors enter the space and could put people off using the facilities at all. Choosing a robust product that can withstand the rigours of daily use is vital, ensuring that you always provide visitors with a functional and presentable place to visit.

The Raphael collection is suitable for high footfall washrooms, with the dispensers constructed from durable Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) plastic for scratch and impact resistance. They are also lockable, preventing theft and untidiness.

Choosing a quality washroom system is a long-term investment - not just in people’s health, but also in the good reputation of your business. Delivering stringent hygiene standards that help to protect people, they play an equally important role in building customer confidence and, crucially, encouraging them to come back to your establishment time and time again.
