COVER STORY REACTIVE DISINFECTION
To complement our more proactive air filtration unit, JLA offers an OTEX ozone-powered room sanitiser that’s designed to reactively disinfect a room or communal space. This easy-to-use unit uses the natural power of ozone to safely kill 99.9% of bacteria and viruses in less than an hour – a short cycle time that minimises disruption to residents and makes your staff’s lives that bit easier.
Our sanitiser does all of this without using any harsh chemicals, which means the only thing leſt over is the fresh-air scent of ozone, with no sticky or dangerous residues near vulnerable residents.
And because the machine is compact and highly portable, it’s easily moved from room-to-room – and discreet enough to stay unnoticed by residents and visitors when it isn’t being used.
AN ENERGY-SAVING
LAUNDRY SOLUTION With linens and uniforms too oſten being a vector for larger infection outbreaks, your laundry room and its washing system form important pillars of your infection control strategy – which is where JLA’s OTEX cool-wash disinfection system really shines.
As an energy-saving alternative to thermal disinfection, the OTEX laundry system uses the natural power of ozone to kill 99.9% of harmful moulds, yeasts, viruses and bacteria, including coronavirus, even on a cool wash.
By working effectively at ambient temperatures, OTEX reduces your utility costs as well as your carbon footprint – using less hot water and electricity compared to traditional thermal laundry systems, which usually need to heat water to 73C to achieve thorough disinfection. In fact, many of our customers are seeing savings of up to 45% in their laundry rooms.
What’s more, OTEX meets HTM 01-04 decontamination guidelines with a verified audit trail. A validation unit monitors the amount of ozone injected into the wash and provides a printed ‘receipt’ to confirm the cycle has achieved disinfection.
Washing in cooler temperatures also eliminates any need for separate

“We’ve seen a big reduction in staff
sickness levels since we installed JLA’s air filtration units. This is great, because it means our residents can keep seeing the people they trust

There’s even a time-saving benefit: in studies, OTEX been found to be noticeably quicker than comparable thermal systems, powering through red-bag foul cycles up to seven minutes faster. An average OTEX cycle takes 62 minutes vs. thermal disinfection at 69 minutes, which over a single day alone will improve the throughput of your laundry room, and give your staff more time to concentrate on care.
