Let’s dispel the myth that professional cleaning manufacturers can only use toxic products to be effective and commercially successful (i.e. cheap). Adopting the use of products that are not toxic and yet still effective is right here and now, and doesn’t need to be a trade secret. It may mean a commercial shift in cost and reward, but consider the cost of legislation which will offer no choice. It can also be a powerful tool in contract negotiation, as ‘sustainability’ creeps up the appointment agenda.

Stronger together

Industrial cleaning, whether in hospitals, B & I, municipal, or production, doesn’t have to be toxic or wasteful, causing damage to landfill and oceans. It can be a sustainable experience both to the individual on the ground using chemicals and to those in situ in the building. There are solutions – solutions which collectively can and will make a real difference and be transformative in how we collectively approach cleaning contracts in the future.

“Even limiting global warming to 1.5°C would require rapid, far-reaching transitions in land, energy, industry, buildings, transport and cities, and would radically impact world economic growth.”

This month we launched our new and highly innovative range of domestic products that are all natural and packaged in 100% recycled plastic, Farm Drop.

Within the range are hand soaps, washing up liquid and kitchen sanitiser, multi-purpose cleaner and bathroom products amongst many others. The range is highly effective, rewards the user through safer exposure, and is cost effective.

The British Cleaning Council also has a vital role to play in driving rapid reform and far-reaching change. The old adage ‘together we are stronger’ has never been truer.

Whilst the task ahead is monumental and covers every aspect of industry, it is not impossible and there is still a small window of time for us all to act. Together, we can look for solutions and adopt new working practices that will make a positive difference if we act now.
