Lane on Thursday 21 May 2026, and is bringing back a much-loved category.
First launched in 2022, the ‘Going the Extra Mile Award’ is back by popular demand. This special accolade shines a light on the extraordinary efforts of frontline cleaners – those whose dedication often goes unseen but whose work is essential to creating safe, welcoming environments. The renewed focus on this award recognises the growing appreciation for cleaning professionals in the post- pandemic world, where hygiene and health have never been more critical.
One of the most exciting additions to the Golden Service Awards 2026 is a new partnership with Bowel Cancer UK, the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. As part of Kimberly- Clark Professional’s ‘Get Comfortable’ movement, the awards are helping to break the nation’s silence on toilet health – raising awareness, supporting fundraising and encouraging the industry to play a role in early detection and support.
Around 44,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with bowel cancer every year, but fewer than four in 10 people are diagnosed in the early stages, when the disease is easier to treat. The washroom is a critical moment for people to get to know what’s normal for them and spot some of the red flag symptoms. This partnership will raise awareness of the disease and encourage people to seek professional help if they need it. Kimberly-Clark Professional Golden Service Awards is fundraising for Bowel Cancer UK.
