a relatively painless transition that is not as costly as many businesses fear it might be.


A key element of this strategy was installing 330 solar panels back in 2021, slashing our electricity consumption in half; we even feed excess electricity back into the network. We also moved to a provider of zero-carbon energy in the same year, ensuring our power supply is now sourced entirely from hydroelectric, wind and solar energies.


While installing solar panels is an initial investment of time and capital (although one that is very much worth it in the long-term), the switch to a renewable energy supplier is quick and simple for most businesses. The cost barrier for renewables has also significantly diminished, with options

like offshore wind energy proving to be more cost-effective than traditional energy sources in certain scenarios.


Putting the pieces together


By focusing on both the big picture and the finer details of our operations, we’ve been able to adopt more innovative and comprehensive strategies for reducing our environmental impact. Our commitment to the 'marginal gains' philosophy shows that even the smallest changes, when added together, can lead to significant environmental benefits.


In turn, I hope that sharing our journey and learnings to date can provide practical ideas and inspiration for other businesses striving to meet their sustainability objectives.
