motivated and productive work teams they had before COVID-19, they will have to prove all is being done to make the workplace safe.

All sectors need support. We are also working with manufacturers and construction companies. These sectors have a higher proportion of older male staff (a key high-risk group) and are less able to follow social distancing guidelines.

Data released by the Office of National Statistics shows construction and process manufacturing have among the highest COVID-19 death rates. Using a decontamination service that provides long-term protection against the virus makes real sense.

This is not likely to be a short-term fix. Workplace cleaning regimes will have to change to take account of the new post-COVID reality. We are ready to support colleagues in the FM and cleaning sector to achieve this.

decontamination service providers entering the market, and they are already active. Employers are desperate to get teams back to work and money is tight. A cut-price solution might be attractive.

Promises would not be kept, however. Decontamination is likely to be ineffective, and the rogue cleaners will be gone with the money by the time problems come to light. The cleaning industry’s reputation will suffer as a result.

Another key issue is getting effective solutions to where they are needed fast enough. There’s a risk that lockdown measures have made many businesses more inward looking. There’s evidence that the residential care sector is a case in point. Expertise and knowhow must be directed to where it is needed the most.

For many organisations, a comprehensive disinfection solution, carried out by verifiable specialists, is likely to become a vital component of a robust COVID-19 protection strategy for many months to come. We are looking to work with more professional partners to offer just that.
