DISPENSING WITH COMMON CHEMICAL ISSUES

Matt Hayas, Global Product Manager at Hydro Systems puts many chemical dispencing issues to bed.

Chemical dispensers can be a facility manager’s best tool. Today’s advanced systems allow employees to prepare cleaning solutions more accurately, quickly and safely. They also enhance productivity and limit chemical, water and energy waste to help an organisation become more environmentally friendly.

However, if the appropriate dispenser is not selected – or if one is not properly maintained – employees may face difficulties and potentially impact key processes, such as cleaning.

It’s unfortunate if a lack of awareness allows these common mistakes to get in the way of the numerous benefits chemical dispensers provide. Most, if not all, dispensing problems can

be solved or avoided altogether, as long as facility managers are properly educated about potential issues and what to look for in dispensing systems.

There are a handful of common chemical dispensing issues facility managers may face. However, there’s almost always a simple solution to fix the problem. These issues, and their solutions, include:

CHANGING WATER FLOW

AND PRESSURE Water flow and pressure can vary greatly, even in different areas of the same building or at different times of the day. If a building doesn’t have a consistent and reliable source of water flow or pressure, chemical dispensing systems may not draw the correct

amount of chemical into the water stream. This results in improperly diluted chemicals and can have a major impact on cleaning results.

If water pressure and flow varies significantly or regularly, it’s crucial to find and invest in a chemical dispensing system that can easily regulate the water flow and pressure through pressure-regulation technology. This will eliminate dilution variance and won’t allow the system to ‘lean out’ or over-dilute.
