RECOGNITION NEEDED FOR WASHROOM


CLEANERS In 2017, Loo of the Year Awards introduced the unique Washroom Cleaner of the Year Awards, dedicated to cleaning staff that look after the facilities, rather than the washrooms themselves. In 2018, Loo of the Year Awards is once again calling on the washroom cleaners to get the recognition they deserve.

LJMU EXTENDS SUSTAINABLE WASTE


MANAGEMENT B&M Waste Services has announced an extension of their sustainable waste management contract with Liverpool John Moores University.


The successful partnership has been in place since 2015, and will now continue for at least another two years. The zero waste to landfill, carbon neutral total waste solution covers all of the university’s campuses and buildings across the city.


In 2017, LJMU diverted over 625 tonnes of waste away from landfill: 60% was recycled, with the remaining residual general and food waste fully recovered for energy use. This equated to over 470,000kg of indirect carbon emission savings, equivalent

All cleaning staff will automatically be entered for Washroom Cleaner of the Year Awards for all entries that are declared as ‘Full time attended toilets’ on the Entry Form. Judging will be completed at the same time as the Loo of the Year Awards inspection, and any cleaning staff seen at the time of the unannounced visit are deemed to represent the whole cleaning team. There are Washroom Cleaner of the Year Award national winners in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland and overall UK/Ireland trophies.


INDIVIDUAL CLEANER NATIONAL AWARDS & TROPHY – presented to the cleaner(s) who in the opinion of the judges are performing a high quality ‘ambassadorial’ role for the washroom


provider in terms of appearance, attitude, commitment and efficiency.


IN-HOUSE CLEANING TEAM NATIONAL AWARDS &TROPHY – presented to the cleaning team employed by a washroom provider with multiple entries in Loo of the Year Awards who, in the opinion of the judges, are performing a high quality ‘ambassadorial’ role for the washroom provider in terms of appearance, attitude, commitment and efficiency.


EXTERNAL CONTRACTOR CLEANING TEAM NATIONAL AWARDS & TROPHY – presented to the cleaning contractor company or organisation which, in the opinion of the judges, is providing a high level of service to one or more Loo of the Year Award entrants.


All cleaning and FM companies are invited to enter their client’s washrooms in the 2018 Loo of the Year Awards. National and UK/Ireland awards and trophies will be presented at the prestigious 2018 event, which will be on Friday 7 December at St Johns Hotel, Solihull. The closing date for entries is 31 July 2018.
