F. BALL PRESCRIBES A RANGE OF PRODUCTS

FOR HOSPITAL FLOOR High-performance products from F. Ball and Co. Ltd., including Stopgap F78 waterproof surface membrane, Stopgap 300 smoothing underlayment and Styccobond F44 acrylic adhesive were used to install 6,500m2

of

vinyl flooring at the Spire hospital in Tollerton, Nottingham.

AJ Floorcraft of Derby, were subcontracted to install flooring throughout the hospital, which had been newly built. Prior to the installation of a smoothing underlayment, the subfloor was mechanically cleaned to remove impurities and two coats of Stopgap F78 one component, rapid drying waterproof surface membrane were applied. Stopgap F78 impedes the passage of residual construction moisture from affecting subsequent floorcovering installations, allowing early installation of floorcoverings in fast track building programmes.

Contractors from AJ Floorcraft then applied Stopgap 300 HD heavy- duty smoothing underlayment to the hospital floor. Stopgap 300 HD is a fast drying self-levelling smoothing underlayment suitable for use in light to heavy-duty areas, for preparing sound absorbent and non-absorbent subfloors prior to the installation of new floorcoverings.

Stopgap 300 HD was particularly

FREQUENCY AT TAGETIK INVISTA Antron fibre, featuring in Frequency carpet tiles by Quadrant, is providing the offices of financial performance specialist, Tagetik, with a high-performance carpet in an abstract pattern that has been random laid for maximum visual impact.

Quadrant Frequency carpet tiles were designed to provide commercial spaces with an entirely flexible carpet tile that can perform a range of stylistic duties thanks to its random lay nature.

Saheed Mustapha, Designer for Open Workspace Design, was responsible for the specification of the Quadrant Frequency carpet tiles in three colourways centred around a grey core. Saheed said: “We chose the Frequency design because of its ability to be laid randomly, which helped us to create an irregular pattern throughout working spaces. The final look is amazing and I will certainly use the carpet tile again if the opportunity arises.”

Alongside the carpet tile’s high- density 12th gauge construction, Antron Lumena carpet fibre ensures

that Quadrant’s Frequency can perform in working spaces. A hardwearing fibre that’s resistant to staining and fading, as well as easy to maintain; Antron Lumena is designed to last in commercial spaces and so was the natural choice when developing Frequency.

“Frequency was designed to be an incredibly flexible option for designers looking for an off-the- shelf solution that can adapt to any space,” explained the carpet tile’s designer, Quadrant’s James Scully. “As such, it was important that it met expectations of wear and easy

suitable for this flooring installation as it is designed for use in areas subject to heavy loads and/or high levels of foot traffic, including hospital floors which commonly have to withstand heavy equipment and a large volume of patients each day.

Finally, Styccobond F44 acrylic adhesive was used to secure the vinyl floorcoverings. Styccobond F44 is a solvent free acrylic emulsion adhesive, which is designed to give a high bond strength, strong initial tack and a long open time. It is protected against bio- degradation and is suitable for use over normal underfloor heating installations.

Commenting on the project, Paul Jackson of AJ Floorcraft said: “I use F. Ball products on every job that I do and I can always depend on them to get the job done. The F. Ball representative was really helpful in aiding us to create a clinically clean and attractive floor in time for the hospital opening, using solely F. Ball products.”

maintenance, so that it could be recommended in confidence in the busiest of spaces. There are few other fibres better at this than Antron Lumena and with a huge range of solution-dyed colours, it has also made our broad selection of workman colourways achievable.”

Some 400m2 of Frequency carpet

tiles were specified by Open Workspace Design as part of a complete re-fit and now flow through workspaces of Tagetik’s London office. Frequency has been updated with four new colourways for 2017.
