FLEXIBLE AND ADAPTABLE Underfloor heating solutions suit all applications, says Polypipe.

Developments in technology and a greater understanding of the systems and benefits available have made underfloor heating an efficient and desired flooring solution. Ideal for use within new-build and retrofit projects, modern water-based underfloor heating is an incredibly versatile solution that provides numerous benefits to both homeowners and installers as it can be used as a complete heating solution throughout the home, or as a standalone system in singular rooms.

Polypipe, the UK’s leading manufacturer of underfloor heating solutions, offers an extensive range to suit every application. Whether it’s a new build, or a renovation project, Polypipe’s solutions are designed with flexibility in mind and can be used within any development regardless of size or shape.

As the housing industry moves increasingly towards more adaptable, open-plan living spaces, radiators pose numerous problems, not just for installers but also for the customer. Radiator systems can struggle to distribute heat evenly around large areas, resulting in cold spots. Moreover, radiators can hinder design freedom and spoil the overall aesthetic and the room design.

To meet ever-changing design trends, it’s crucial that companies stay ahead of the curve and produce adaptable solutions and technology to suit every eventuality. At Polypipe, we’re committed to creating solutions suitable for all types of projects and to provide the homeowner with an efficient and effective system that delivers true warmth in their home.

For new build projects, screeded floor systems such as Polypipe’s Red Floor Panel, specified at the design stage, is the ideal solution. Light in weight and easy to cut, these unique floor panels ensure a perfect installation every time. Placed directly above the insulation layer, the Red Floor Panel features raised rivets that lift the pipe slightly, allowing the screed to fully envelope the pipe and conduct consistent heat throughout the space.

On upper floor projects or renovations where screeded floor solutions are undesirable, retrofit solutions which are fitted on top of an existing floor are available. Laid directly on top of the floor deck, these systems provide the homeowner with all the benefits of warm water underfloor heating, but remove the need for costly excavations. Polypipe’s Overlay solution raises the floor profile by just 18mm, and can be installed with the homeowner’s choice of floorcovering.

When compared to traditional radiators, water-based underfloor heating is a much more energy efficient way to heat the home. Running at a lower water temperature than radiator led solutions, underfloor heating provides an energy efficient but highly effective solution which offers a far more even and comfortable distribution of heat. Combined with the increased design freedom and aesthetic appeal achieved by eliminating radiators, it’s clear to see why underfloor heating is becoming a trusted choice for flooring installers.
