RESIDENTIAL FLOORING

REINVENTING THE LOOK

Junckers explains how to enhance and protect the natural beauty of wood with an oil-treated finish in a range of rich, on-trend shades.

One of the plus points of installing a wooden floor is the fact that it can be sanded and refinished multiple times. With so many colour and finishing options available, it is possible to completely change the look of the floor, giving it a new lease of life. For a flooring installer, this is a strong selling point that can also create opportunities for maintenance and refinishing work.

Oiled wood floors have always provided an attractive alternative to traditional lacquered finishes. The ease of use and the natural look that oils give the floor make them appeal to customers as well as designers. Modern innovations to reduce drying times and increase durability have helped to drive this along. “Oiled

floor finishes are particularly popular for residential projects”, explains David Papworth, general manager at Junckers.

“Homeowners favour the matt finish an oil gives the floor. They see the ability to sand and refinish their floor and potentially give it a brand-new look as a strong argument for investing in a quality product.”

Junckers ECO 2K Floor Oil is a high-quality oil developed to intensify the natural beauty of wood and at the same time ensure long-lasting durability. It can be used as a single or two-component product, where a hardener is added to make the oil tougher and more resistant to foot traffic. Part of Junckers’ market-leading range of floor surface treatments and maintenance products, ECO 2K Floor Oil is available in Clear, Antique Oak, Black, Dark Coco, Driftwood Grey, Harvest Oak, London Grey, Nordic, Quiet White and White.

With customer feedback and trend forecasting research, the colour range has been developed to include the most popular and natural-looking shades. “The trend for richer colours used in interior schemes has brought with it an increasing demand for warm and natural-looking browns and honey colours – our Harvest Oak, a new addition to the range, and Antique Oak coloured oils are particularly popular”, explains David.
